Slavisa Drobnjakovic is a Dutch film director of Serbian background. He began his acting studies in classical theatre at the age of fourteen in Yugoslavia. He furthered his education at the Art Academy and studied Cultural Anthropology in Belgrade. After relocating to Amsterdam in 2001, he became involved as a performance artist at Das Arts Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Cyber Theatre. He co-directed the film-noir opera "A Deep Black Sleep," a multimedia project that blurs the boundaries between cinematic and live performance. He also wrote the libretto for the opera "Capricorn," a sonic memoir of the lives of Gian Carlo Menotti and Samuel Barber, as well as a stage adaptation of Haydn's oratorio "The Creation" into an opera piece. "The Pain of Others" is his debut film.
